OUR LATEST PROJECT-Families & Young People Workshop
In an age of “fast fashion” around £140 million worth (350,000 tonnes) of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year(http://www.wrap.org.uk/content/fast-facts-textiles)
Mixing screen printing, fashion and fun, we take screen printing equipment out to the community and show families and young people a fun way to do a bit to save the planet and re-use their unloved t-shirt.
During each workshop families and young people bring along their tired, stained and unloved t-shirts and clothes. Using pre-made stencils, and eco friendly water based ink they work together to transfer their unloved garments into funky new ones. We photograph their new creations and upload it to the Vinspired website http://gettrashed.vinspired.com/.
They take their creations home and enjoy wearing them-participation in the workshops is free-as long as they bring along a old piece of clothing to customise.
We need to fund raise to cover the costs of these workshops-it costs £35 alone in inks per workshop, then we have other costs such as disposable aprons, insurance and printing screens to find too.
